Small Business Advice for the "CEO, Janitor, & IT Guy"
Hi. I’m Josh.
If you are reading this page, you are probably tired.
You might be tired because you just spent three hours trying to fix a printer. Or maybe you are tired because you have to fire someone tomorrow and you don’t know what to say. Or perhaps you are just tired of "gurus" giving you advice that only works if you have a million dollars in the bank.
I started HatStacked because I was tired too.
The Reality of Wearing All the Hats
Most small business content is written by people who don't actually run small businesses. They talk about "synergy" and "scaling" but they have never had to run payroll on a Friday afternoon while the internet is down.
I have.
I am a partner at Scales Plus and M2 Scientifics. We built these companies from zero revenue to industry leaders in the precision weighing and laboratory equipment space. We did it with small teams, limited budgets, and a lot of trial and error.
Along the way, I realized that the hardest part of business isn't the "big idea." It is the daily grind of operations. It is the constant switching between roles.
One minute you are the Chief Marketing Officer. The next minute you are the Head of HR. Ten minutes later you are the Janitor.
What This Site Is (And What It Isn’t)
HatStacked is a playbook for the overwhelmed operator. It is the resource I wish I had ten years ago.
You will find:
- Operational Strategy: How to build systems so the business runs without you.
- Tech Stack Reviews: Real talk on software like Proxmox, Cloudflare, and Zapier (and why you need them).
- Leadership Tactics: How to hire, fire, and manage a team without losing your soul.
- Financial Sanity: Practical cash flow management that makes sense for non-accountants.
You won’t find:
- Vague motivational quotes.
- "Hustle culture" preaching.
- Theoretical advice that doesn't work in the real world.
Why "HatStacked"?
The name comes from the reality we live in. We stack hat upon hat until we can barely walk straight.
My goal is to help you take a few of those hats off. I want to help you automate the boring stuff, delegate the hard stuff, and get back to doing the work you actually enjoy.
Whether you are running a solo e-commerce shop or managing a team of twenty, you are in the right place.
Let’s get to work.
